Sacrament of Baptism

Families need to be active, registered members of the parish and participate in a Baptism Preparation Program.  This required program is presented the first Sunday of each month at 11:45 in the Chapel, located in the Faith Formation building.  Please call Kathy Boats 770-487-7672x301 for information and scheduling.


Sacraments of First Reconciliation And First Eucharist

Generally celebrated in the 2nd grade. Two consecutive years of religious education are required, i.e., 1st grade is a prerequisite. Children who begin religious education in the 2nd grade will be eligible for sacrament preparation in the 3rd grade.

Parents are required to attend two preparation classes – one for Reconciliation, one for Eucharist.

Students complete two home study books – one for Reconciliation and one for Eucharist. They are required to attend two Saturday retreats.

Students will also attend a First Eucharist rehearsal and dinner the Thursday prior to participating in the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time.

Children who have not participated in the Sacrament of Eucharist and have not been enrolled in religious education classes may be eligible for the Order of Christian Initiation for Children (O.C.I.C.) program. Contact the program director for more information.


The Sacrament of Confirmation

Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory has designated 10th grade to be the age for Confirmation consistent in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. The following guidelines for preparation are applicable:

Continuous enrollment in religious education is expected; however, two consecutive years of religious education are required, i.e., 8th & 9th grades are prerequisites.

Copies of Baptismal and First Communion certificates are required.

Students are required to attend a Confirmation Retreat prior to Confirmation.

Electives hours, three service projects (outreach, community, parish), a paper on your chosen saint, retreat and a Confirmation interview must be completed prior to the Confirmation date.
