Dear 10th grade Confirmation Parent:

Welcome to the Confirmation preparation program at Holy Trinity.  The church teaches that parents are the first and foremost catechists of their children.  As your teen prepares to receive this special Sacrament, there are opportunities for you to assume this responsibility.

  1. Model the commitment to personal prayer, community worship, and ministry expected of a mature Christian.
  2. Help your son/daughter process the experience of this journey by discussing what they are learning or experiencing.
  3. Pray for and with them, and be willing to share your personal faith story.
  4. Participate in the service requirements with them whenever possible.

Due to the change in the Archdiocesan guidelines, only those who are 10th grade and older are eligible to prepare and receive the sacrament of Confirmation.  In compliance with these guidelines, two years of faith formation are necessary prior to the actual Confirmation preparation program.

The Archbishop will come to Holy Trinity in the spring to celebrate Confirmation.  There will be two different celebrations due to the number of candidates we expect to have enrolled.  Candidates will be assigned one of the celebrations to receive the sacrament according to your last name.  However you will have the opportunity to switch if necessary.

There are several options for the actual classroom preparation portion.  A summer “Confirmation Camp” will be offered June 4-7, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon or 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The number of classes offered will depend upon the number of catechists that volunteer.  During the school year, classes will be offered on Wednesday evenings, and on Sunday evenings during both semesters.  You can choose which is more convenient for you, September – November or January –March.  Students should be working towards completion of all the requirements regardless of when they actually take the classroom sessions.

In order to be Confirmed, all 9th and 10th grade requirements must be completed and paper work turned in by March 15.

Please look over this entire packet of information, and contact one of us if your have any questions.

May the Lord continue to bless you and your loved ones during this preparation process.
