9th Grade Faith Formation
Options & Requirements

The requirements for 9th Grade Religious Education are based on a 30 hour minimum requirement as outlined by the Archdiocese of Atlanta.  In addition, remember that three service projects are required, and these count separate from the educational/elective hours.  Refer to the “Overview of Electives” sheet for descriptions of electives.  Note that this year all LIFE TEEN activities will count for 1.5 credit hrs.  (Exception: Wednesday morning Mass & breakfast, and Thursday hang-out nights do not count for credit.)

Breakdown of the Requirements based on the option you choose

WEDNESDAY CLASS OPTION:  30 HOURS BREAKDOWN
15 hours come from Class Time.  See schedule of times.
10 LIFE TEEN elective activities = 15 hours:  LIFE nights, retreats, Bible Studies, Super Saturday, etc…
Service Projects are done in addition to the above educational activities.

SUNDAY LIFE TEEN OPTION: 30 HOURS BREAKDOWN
16 LIFE TEEN elective activities = 24 hours
6 hours come from the Super Saturday Workshop (Either 2/9/06, or 2/3/07) from 9am-4pm
(Super Saturday Workshop is required.)
Service Projects are done in addition to the above educational activities.

CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL OPTION: 30 HOURS BREAKDOWN
20 hours come from your High School Religion Classes.
7 LIFE TEEN elective activities = 10 hrs: LIFE nights, retreats, Bible Studies, Super Saturday Workshop, Parish Mission, etc…
Service Projects are done in addition to the above educational activities.  Service projects you do through school can also count for 9th grade service if they apply to the areas of Social Justice, Parish, or Family/Neighborhood service.

HOME SCHOOL OPTION: 30 HOURS BREAKDOWN
15 hours come from completing approved textbook assignments with parental supervision.  (Credit is applied when textbook and work is turned in. NOT BEFORE!)
10 LIFE TEEN elective activities = 15hrs:  LIFE nights, retreats, Bible Studies, Super Saturday Retreat, etc…
Service Projects are done in addition to the above educational activities.
