Fr. Alvaro Avendaño was born in Colombia to Madgalena and Anibal Avendaño. He is the fifth of six children. He began his studies in Colombia, and entered the Seminary of Missions, later finishing philosophy and theology as well as pastoral experiences here in the United States. He was ordained in 1992 by Bishop Roberto Gonzalez, now Archbishop of San Juan, Puerto Rico. His first assignment was at the parish of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Atlanta for two years; Holy Cross in Chamblee-Tucker for six years; the Cathedral of Christ the King for two years; St. Joseph's in Marietta for one year, and is presently serving at Holy Trinity in Peachtree City arriving on August 26, 2004.

Fr. Raúl Mejía was ordained on February 14, 1998 in Medellín, Colombia. He has worked in the following parishes: San Fernando Rey in Amaga, Antioquia; Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes in Montebello, Antioquia; San Luis Gonzaga in Bolombolo, Antioquia; Santa Ana in Fredonia, Antioquia; Seminario de la Santa Cruz in Caldas, Antioquia, Christ the King and Savior in Greensboro, GA (2000) and at Holy Trinity Peachtree City, GA (2005). I was invited by the Archdioceses of Atlanta to help as a Hispanic priest due to the growth that the Latin Community is having in Atlanta and throughout the whole country. My priesthood is the greatest gift God has given me, calling me to be His minister among people that need His Word and need His Sacraments. Within the priesthood I feel fulfillment as a man, as a baptized Christian and as a witness of Jesus the Lord.

Reverend Guyma Noel, Parochial Vicar |

Holy Trinity Church in Peachtree City is the first assignment for Father Guyma Noel of Hinche, Haiti.After moving to the U.S. 10 years ago at the age of 23, Father Noel earned a bachelor's degree from St. John's University in Queens, N. Y., where he studied social work and philosophy. He lived in Mexico for a year, where he studied Spanish and the Latin American culture, and attended Catholic Theological Union in Chicago for one year. After meeting Msgr. Don Kenny, archdiocesan vocations director, he entered St. Vincent's Seminary in Latrobe, Pa., graduating in 1997 with a master's degree in divinity, and now at the age of 33 prepares to minister in Atlanta. Father Noel, like others, heard a small whisper of a calling to ministry in his youth. He was active in his church youth group in Hinche and participated in the liturgy every Sunday. He also says the political instability of Haiti motivated him spiritually, and his family supported and encouraged him in his Catholic faith. |
He has a talent for languages, speaking French, Creole, English and Spanish, an adventurous spirit, and the desire to work with diverse ethnic groups. After finishing high school he says he joined a community which worked with immigrants and refugees. With them, he decided to leave Haiti and come to the U.S. |

Fr. Kevin Peek was ordained in 1998, and has served as parochial vicar for Holy Trinity since then. Raised in Atlanta, he is sixth in a family of 11 children. He is a graduate of Immaculate Heart of Mary School, Atlanta. Fr. Peek received a bachelor's degree in history from Christendom College, Front Royal, VA, before entering Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD, where he received his master of divinity degree.

Reverend Joseph Shaute, Parochial Vicar

Father Joe arrived at Holy Trinity the end of February, 2003. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese on June 2, 2001, and his first assignment was at St. Joseph in Marietta. Father Joe is the oldest of two children, and his family lives in Metro Atlanta. He started life as a military brat, eventually settling in South Florida in 1970. He graduated from Msgr. Pace High School in Florida and then studied broadcast journalism at Georgia State University here in Atlanta. Following graduation, Father Joe worked in the communications field - radio, television, newspaper, public relations, and corporate communications - before entering the seminary in the fall of 1996. He graduated summa cum laude from Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans in May of 2001. |

Reverend Fabio Sotelo-Peña, Parochial Vicar |

Fr. Fabio Sotelo-Peña was born in Chiquinquirà, Colombia to Pablo Enrique Sotelo and María Melanie Peña-Sotelo. He was one of 12 children, including a brother who died. Fr. Fabio earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and literature in 1991, and a master’s degree in philosophy and literature in 1993, from St. Thomas Aquinas University, Bogotá. He studied theology in 1994, at Javeriana University and earned a master of divinity degree in April, 1999, from Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Md. Fr. Fabio made his temporal vows for six years for the Society of St. Paul religious order, which has a mass media apostolate.
While studying at St. Thomas Aquinas University in Bogotá, he taught Spanish, literature and philosophy for six years at minor seminary, and he was an assistant manager for Vida Pastoral |
magazine and a book editor at St. Paul printing offices.Pastoral internships include serving from January to May of 1995, at Our Lady of the Americas Mission in Doraville; serving the Hispanic community at Cathedral of Christ the King, Atlanta, summer of 1996; serving the Hispanic and Anglo communities at Christ Our King and Savior Church, Greensboro, summer of 1997; Church of the Good Shepherd, Cumming, summer of 1998; Parochial Vicar at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Atlanta, Georgia, from the summer of 1999, to summer 2001.
Fr. Fabio enjoys soccer, tennis, racquetball, swimming, fishing and water skiing. He is particularly interested in serving the youth ministries of the Spanish- and English-speaking communities. |

Reverend John Walsh, Pastor 1996-2007

Father Walsh grew up in the West of Ireland. He is the oldest of six children, with three brothers and two sisters. He attended the Convent of Mercy, Claremorris, and St. Colmans College. From there, he went to St. Patrick’s Seminary Maynooth to study for the Archdiocese of Atlanta. On June 12, 1977, he was ordained by Archbishop Thomas A. Dannellan, who was the Archbishop of Atlanta at that time.
Since coming to the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Father Walsh has served at Corpus Christi in Stone Mountain, St. John’s in Hapeville, St. Jude’s in Sandy Springs, St. Thomas More in Decatur, and St. Pius X in Conyers. He has been at Holy Trinity since October 1996. |
